Next week is the series finale of Rectify on Sundance, and you need to be watching this show. Here’s everything you need to know before next week’s ending.

The season 4 premiere of the gorgeous Sundance drama premieres this week, and if you’re late to the ‘Rectify party, then you have surely been missing out.

Probably one of the most beautiful, contemplative shows on television right now, Rectify will break your heart a million ways – in the best possible way.

Daniel Holden, reluctant protagonist and antihero, spent 19 years in prison for the rape and murder of his high school girlfriend, Hanna Dean. Thanks to developments in DNA technology, his sentence was vacated, and he was released to his hometown of Paulie, Georgia.

Once he gets home, he faces an almost impossible transition back to “real life.” His family and hometown struggle to have him back home and contemplate his guilt or innocence openly and with a lot of judgement. Daniel’s strange quietness and awkward, wide-eyed existence is troubling for those around him, and we never quite get our footing about his guilt or innocence.

Here are the five majors things you need to know before you sit down to watch the season 4 premiere on Wednesday.
