The IT Crowd

Set in the London offices of the fictional Reynholm Industries, The IT Crowd follows the story the company’s IT department.  The three-person team is comprised of socially awkward Maurice Moss, super lazy Roy Trenneman and go-getter Jen Barber.

Roy and Moss are the team’s two technicians, but despite the company’s dependence on their services, they are generally ignored or disliked by their peers. Jen doesn’t actually know anything about technology at all, and lied on her CV to get her current job. She becomes their “relationship manager” and attempts to run interference between her team and the rest of the company. Particularly where their cloddish, bumbling company owner is concerned.

Richard Ayoade, Chris O’Dowd and Katherine Parkinson star, and the trio has wonderful chemistry together. The show is often silly and the laugh track can occasionally get annoying. But on the whole, it’s very, very funny. If you’re into geek humor in any way, this is the show for you. And, happily, IT Crowd doesn’t do that thing some “geek” properties do where it makes fun of the group that it’s purported to love. (Looking at you Big Bang Theory).
