14. RIP Beth Greene

Beth Greene’s (Emily Kinney) death was not only one the most shocking, but one of the most devastating. After her bottle episode that focused fully on Beth’s journey at this hospital she found herself in, viewers grew a little tighter to her character. We saw qualities in her that we hadn’t seen before and we desperately wanted to know how she would escape this. When Rick and the gang showed up to bail her out, we were reassured that Beth would be fine, and would be on the road towards a strong character arc. We thought wrong.

We had all thought the deal was done at the hospital- Noah (Tyler James Williams) would stay and Beth could leave. But when Beth was accidently shot in the head by Dawn (Christine Woods) after trying to stab her, things changed.

This was a sad loss for the entire group, but mostly for Daryl. Daryl had built a deep friendship with Beth, one that nobody quite understood or even expected. She was a person Daryl trusted and respected more than most, so losing her put him on a downward spiral all on his own.
