30. Carol’s Prison Fire
Out of every moment that could possibly pinpoint the beginning of Carol’s transformation, I think this one is the most important.
Tyreese (Chad Coleman) follows a trail of blood and finds two bodies burned outside one of the cellblocks. One of them had Karen’s (Melissa Ponzio) bracelet burnt into its wrist. Tyreese is devastated and takes his anger out on Rick, thinking he did it. But none other than our own Carol was the one who burned the bodies.
This was a clear turning point for Carol. It showed the lengths she would go to to possibly protect people. However, it also showed that she is set in her own ways and doesn’t ask for much permission. It’s a time in her life when she finally has nobody telling her what to do, and she is taking complete power of that.
Nobody expected it was Carol who burned the bodies because of her nurturing nature. When she finally tells Tyreese episodes later, he forgives her, proving that the two have come far in their relationship. But this also proves that Tyreese may be a little too forgiving, and Carol may be a little too stubborn
