Lysa Arryn

The Lady of the Vale is really her own red flag wrapped up in herself. Her obsession with Littlefinger should have been enough indication that she had some issues to work through. And if that wasn’t enough, the whole breastfeeding-her-pubescent-son thing would have done the trick. Her interests lay entirely with Littlefinger and Robyn, and soon enough the former decided she was more trouble than she was worth.

Littlefinger’s own eternal preoccupation with Lysa’s sister, Catelyn, ensured that he wasn’t in this union for love. He wants power, and acquiring a kingdom legally is a good start. Few people would contest his claim to the Vale following his marriage to Lysa, although plenty were suspicious of his motives. As well they should be, but for now little can be done about it.

Keeping within that theme, Littlefinger’s affections for Catelyn transitioned to her eldest daughter. Once Cat rejected Littlefinger again following Ned’s death, he set his sights completely upon Sansa. She’s the spitting image of her mother, and if all went his way—and somehow it always does—she would be the key to the North. Once Littlefinger had the Vale, he could focus his efforts elsewhere, and Winterfell is his next target. So out the Moon Door it was for Lysa, and Littlefinger’s plot was once again put in motion.
