Heidi is wearing a silk maxi dress with feathery trim. Zac and Nina are back to see their return on investment. The guest judge, who has no money in this game is Sabrina Carpenter of Girl Meets World, who is here to tell people she’s a “recording artist” as well. Not that it justifies her having any opinions on fashion. The TimGunn Save™ is mentioned this evening, in case we forgot about it. Heidi does not mention the AnthonyRyan Rule™ but it turns out that’s because the group names are presented at the top of each collection and everyone knows who is on what team already. There is a reminder that each member of the winning team will get a $5000 bonus for winning this challenge.

Winning Team: House of Bouton

Outfit One (Dexter) One could quibble with the low cut suit jacket, and the short pant, but it’s passably fashion forward. Heidi loves the appliques.

Outfit Two (Jenni/Brik) Look, if you’re going to go for white lady’s skin tone skin tight dresses, the *least* you can do is put it on a model that doesn’t have the same skin tone. And what is with that neck? The judges agree this was the worst look, and say it could have sunk the collection.

Outfit Three (Laurence/Tasha) My gods Laurence’s jacket is GORG. The skirt is the pop of color this collection needed. Heidi calls it a $2000 jacket.

Outfit Four (Erin) So this is how Erin forces herself into a group collection. The jacket is toned down, but it’s still oversized and banana happy.I also like the throwaway outfit underneath, even if we don’t see it very well. The appliques do help the unending yellow, even though Heidi says “bumblebee.”

There is no real consensus of who should win among the team, but both Erin and Brik say it should be Dexter as team leader, with Tasha vocally agreeing, even though she personally picked Laurence. The judges agree, and he is handed the win and immunity next week.

Losing Team: Team Unity

Outfit One (Cornelius/Rik) I love the jacket. The black skirt is also cute, though overshadowed. The blouse is nothing. Upon looking closer that’s actually a dress, not a top and a skirt. Heidi calls it “too busy” and she’s right.

Outfit Two (Mah-Jing) I really like his top, even if it is a wee bit Star Trek. Not so much the pants, which look like the changed their mind of being jodphurs halfway. Heidi calls the jacket her favorite of the whole collection.

Outfit Three (Nathalia/Roberi) The pants are ok, but the blouse is a pillowcase and the jacket is a disaster. Zac hates the pants. Nina calls the top Fred Flintstone.

Outfit Four (Alex) It’s a well made silver dress for an AI lady built to model proportions. Heidi calls it unpolished and that it’s not sharp. Zac says that the fabric is way too unforgiving for this style of dress.

In general, Nina complains the problem is their pitch, which was “working woman clothes” was completely forgotten, unless they meant she “worked at night.” In a shocking move, none of them throw each other under the bus. Instead, four out of the five volunteer that they should be the one to go home. (I cannot remember ever seeing this happen before, in fifteen years of the show.) Only Mah-Jing says someone else, saying that, as the pitch man who failed to get them money and misrepresented the collection, Alex should be axed. Alex agrees. The judges agree as well.

And that is the end of insufferable statesman Alex. At least he’s classy on the way out? Tim gives him a round of applause for taking the bullet for his team, calling that “unprecedented” in the history of the show. In that he’s not wrong.

But he’s not using the Save either. Just sayin’.
