3. Shadowhunters- Malec

This is a post worthy of two spots, but I didn’t dare separate them. The chemistry between Magnus Bane (Harry Shum Jr.) and Alec Lightwood (Mathew Daddario) is undeniable, instant. The two have taken over social media as the ship known as “Malec” and earn themselves a high-ranking place on this thread.

Shadowhunters is a fantasy television series following Clary Fray (Katherine McNamara) as she discovers she’s something unusual- a shadowhunter. Her, along with others, are born with angelic blood and can protect humans from dragons. Alec is one of those shadowhunters.

The story begins as the typical “gay man in love with an unattainable straight man.” Alec has feelings for his best friend, Jace, who seems to be more interested in Clary than anyone else. We’ve all seen this story before, and it’s old. It’s been used, a lot. Lucky for us, writers had a different plan for Alec though.

Things quickly changed as Magnus, a 400-year-old sexually fluid warlock, is introduced. Alex and Magnus’s attraction was immediate; their love story explosive. Being a shadowhunter, Alec’s “Clave” and his parents don’t agree with this relationship, but he carries on anyway, sailing a ship we can all find hope in.
