Cobie Smulders

When it comes to Cobie Smulders and comic books, most people automatically connect her with the character of Agent Maria Hill from Marvel’s Avengers franchise. After all, she’s appeared in the Avengers movies, the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show, and she’s even done the voice of Hill in the Avengers video game. But she’s also done some work for DC, providing the voice of the Wonder Woman character in The LEGO Movie. (Speaking of DC, she also had a small role in an episode of Smallville back in 2004.)

Aside from her role as Maria Hill, Smulders is also known for her part in the hit TV sitcom How I Met Your Mother on which she played tv reporter (and 80s Canadian pop star) Robin Scherbatsky. (Here’s a piece of trivia for you. Smulders is married to former SNL cast member Taran Killam who appeared on six episodes of HIMYM.) Before that, she was Leigh Ostin on The L Word.

Back when Joss Whedon was hired to work on a live-action Wonder Woman movie, he was very open about Cobie Smulders being his first choice in casting for Wonder Woman. At that time, she had often denied rumors that she was being considered for the role, although she did admit that she would be open to it. As far as her voice role as Wonder Woman, she said Wonder Woman is such an amazing character. But she’s very iconic, so it’s scary stuff. It’s scary stuff with big shoes.”

There’s no word yet as to whether or not Smulders will return as Wonder Woman for the sequel to The LEGO Movie which is scheduled for release in 2019.
