Production on Outlander Season 3 has been going for a few weeks; many fans were left wondering when the show would announce the casting of new characters. Outlander has delivered. We finally have the actors who will play Young Ian Murray and Joe Abernathy. They are significant people for both Claire and Jamie lives.

Fergus Fraser

We met Fergus in season 2 when he was just a wee lad Jamie and Claire adopted in France. When season 3 starts, we will see a huge time jump in Fergus’ life. Next season he will be a strapping young man with love on the mind. He is still never far from Jamie’s side, but someone in Jamie’s inner-circle has caught his attention. This will cause issues with Jamie’s and Fergus relationship.

The 26-year-old actor’s name is Cesar Domboy, and it does not get any more French than this young man. He has been acting in his native France since he was 14 years old but Outlander will be his first international TV show. I would recommend you check out his Instagram account.

Marsali Fraser

Marsali is the daughter of Season 1 and 2 loathsome character Laoghaire (Nell Hudson). Her obsession of Jamie leads her to turn Claire into the town leaders for being a witch. Lucky for us Marsali is not as deplorable like her mother, but she is not one to turn away from a challenge. She will go after whatever or whomever she wants. Not sure you notice, but Marsali last name is Fraser. What does that mean? You will have to wait for Season 3.

The UK-born actress Lauren Lyle is our Marsali. To her acting credit, she has acted in British TV series Broken, Holby City and Radges. At 18 years old she also has a television show writing credit to her name. We might have a future Outlander script writer.

Joe Abernathy

We left a pregnant Claire in Season 2 in her original timeline, haveing relocated to Boston. Claire is going to be in a new county with only a baby and Frank as her companions. It will take some time for Claire to find her footing but she will eventually find it. Her paths will cross with Joe Abernathy in medical school, and they become instant friends. He also becomes godfather to Claire’s daughter, Brianna.

Wil Johnson might be familiar to BBC fans for the long-running television show Waking the Dead. He is an English television and stage actor. This will be his first his first international TV show.

Young Ian Murray

The spirited fan favorite of book readers Ian Murray has been found. Fans could not be happier with the choice. Ian Murray is Jamie Fraser nephew is more like a son to him. Ian’s parents are at their wit’s end with all Ian’s troublemaking. Jamie sees a lot of himself in the young man and will not give up on him. He will also have a run-in with someone from Claire’s and Jamie’s past.

The boyish John Bell has been selected to play the young Ian Murray. To Bell’s credit, he has a very impressive movie and TV resume that young actors would kill to have. His most notable movies are the blockbusters The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and Wrath of the Titans.

Outlander Season 3 returns in 2017 on Starz.
