Tana French’s sixth book in her Dublin Murder Squad series is coming out this October. Here is a look back at the previous books and why you should read these psychological thrillers.

Tana French is a master of the psychological thriller. Her dark, lyrical books keep you turning the page to find out not really whodunnit, but why. And there’s always a crazy plot twist you will never see coming, no matter how many episodes of Law and Order you’ve watched. Her loosely connected series, known as the Dublin Murder Squad, centers around different detectives in this fictional unit in Ireland and their loves, lives, and cases.

The stories are only loosely connected because you don’t have to read them in order. Each book revolves around a different character from the Dublin Murder Squad. What makes French’s books so unique is that the main character of one story always shows up in some way in a previous book. Reading in order isn’t necessary, but it does provide insight into the motivations and relationships between people.

French’s 6th book in the series, The Trespasser, is hitting stores on October 6th. Here is a look back at her previous works to refresh your memory or to convince you to read these twisted, suspenseful novels if you haven’t already (they’re perfect for reading by the fire this fall).
