Countdown to Luke Cage
Here are some of things that we hope to see in the Luke Cage series.
Claire (Rosario Dawson) and Luke (Mike Colter) take a walk in ‘Marvel’s Luke Cage,’ streaming only on Netflix September 30th
Connection to the ‘Defenders’
In the comics, Luke Cage’s most important relationship (besides Jessica) is Danny Rand (Finn Jones). Together they fight crime Batman and Robin style as Power Man and Iron Fist. The two couldn’t be more opposite, with Danny embracing their mantle and partner status and Luke usually a little less willing to play along. Their dynamic and friendship is strong and endearing and an important part in each character’s story. The Iron Fist series is in production with a 2017 release date, but his appearance, even briefly in Luke Cage would show his importance in Luke’s life. I personally would love the show to end with Luke having successfully overcome whatever obstacle he had to face in his series and Danny just walks into his office saying, “I need your help.” Cut to black.
If Iron Fist doesn’t appear, is it too much to ask for an appearance by Jessica or Matt? Just some small connection featuring a main character and teasing the creation of Defenders. Maybe Claire Temple could act as Nick Fury and bring everyone together? She’s dropped hints before to Luke in Jessica Jones, but it would be great for there to be an outright reason for all of these street level heroes to band together to save the city of Manhattan.
