Countdown to Luke Cage
Music Fit For a Hero
Ali Shaheed Muhammad from a Tribe Called Quest and Adrian Younge did the music for Luke Cage. The episode titles are named after Gang Starr songs. The trailers have featured tracks such as “Made You Look” by Nas and “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” by Ol’ Dirty Bastard. It would be an understatement to say that music is going to play an important role in the series. As Colter says in the video above, the music, “creates the world for us.”
It makes sense for a show about a black man living in Harlem to have a soundtrack populated with rap music, it just hasn’t been done before. Marvel and Netflix are committed to showing us the world of Luke and all that entails. Plus, watching Luke beat bad guys with nothing but his bare hands as “Bring Da Ruckus” plays is pretty sweet.
Now those are just some of the things we know for Luke Cage has in store for us and are looking forward to seeing. But what about the items on our wish list?
