8. Fighting For Bridget…Literally!

The most emotion that Mark shows apart from admitting his feelings is when he fights Daniel Cleaver in the street. Daniel shows up drunk at Bridget’s birthday party and tries to win her back, forcing Mark to leave. But just as he is about to walk away, he comes back and asks Daniel to come outside.

Until this point, Bridget still believes that Mark slept with Daniel’s fiancé because of Daniel’s lie. So when they start fighting one another, Bridget and her friends don’t know who to root for. The fight is insane and they end up destroying a restaurant but it’s the first time we really see what happens when Mark let’s his anger get the best of him.

It’s clear that Daniel really gets under his skin, especially since he stops fighting up until Daniel makes a snide remark about his ex-wife and then he punches him once more. It’s a continuous ‘who’s the bigger man’ fight but Mark still holds true to himself.

When Bridget says that he’s just as bad as Daniel, he once again doesn’t fight her. He realizes that she thinks of him in a negative light and he walks off. He doesn’t correct her, because he’s too sweet to force an idea of himself on her. Instead, he lets her decide.
