18. Mark Works Extremely Hard To Free Bridget

Mark lies to Bridget when he goes to see her in Thailand. He tells her that he found out that she was free and he was there and did barely anything to get her out. In reality, Shazza called Mark as soon as she got back to London and tells Bridget all that he did to get her acquitted.

In a brilliant display of Mark’s attempt at remaining cold, he doesn’t sway Bridget by letting her know everything that he did for her. He thinks that she’s back with Daniel and he’s letting her have her space. Again, Mark is letting his own feelings fall to the side for Bridget so she can be happy.

It happens many times in these films but each one makes Mark even more of an advantageous choice for her. Granted, this time may have been the filmmakers outlandish way of showing how much Mark would actually fight for her but it doesn’t change the fact that he dropped all his important work to do it.

A constant theme is that Mark works too hard (and it’s why they don’t work out the second time). But this moment, he shows that he would quit and do whatever she wanted him to if she asked.
