17. Fighting For Bridget Take Two

In another attempt to call back to Bridget Jones’s Diary, the second film features a fight scene between Mark and Daniel over Bridget. This time, though, it’s more about Daniel’s abandonment of Bridget when she was headed to jail.

Mark confronts Daniel while he is filming his travel guide show and asks him repeatedly if he saw Bridget getting arrested. When Daniel finally admits to watching it happen and doing nothing, Mark asks him to step outside.

This time, Daniel doesn’t agree to and Darcy literally pulls him out of the museum so that the two could fight on the street. It’s outrageous and they end up in a fountain but it shows a different side to Mark that the other fight didn’t.

All Mark wanted was for someone to have looked out for Bridget and when Daniel admits that he didn’t, he loses his cool and tries to drown him in a foot of water. It’s that instance that makes all our hearts cry out because he again, doesn’t care that he’s not with her just as long as she’s safe and being looked after.

But then Daniel says he didn’t sleep with Bridget but if Mark finally married her, then she’d be interested in him again and then the fight starts up once more.
