10 Books You May Have Missed This Summer
Marrying Winterborne by Lisa Kleypas. Publisher: Avon
4. Marrying Winterborne
Lisa Kleypas’ latest historical romance picks up where Cold-Hearted Rake left off for Rhys Winterborne and Helen Ravenel, so they’re best read together. However, you can read Marrying Winterborne as a standalone if you like, because it recaps the important parts of its predecessor.
Helen might be shy, but she’s nevertheless captured the heart of brilliant businessman Rhys, and though he can’t quite admit it, he’s head over heels for her. Her past contains some secrets, despite the “Lady” ahead of her name, and, well, he grew up in London as a shop boy. When they finally do say “I do,” however, that’s not the end of the road for their story…and don’t expect Helen to stay quite so reserved, either.
Goodreads reviews praise it as funny, sexy, and well-researched, particularly for our Welsh hero and for the Victorian setting. In other words, this is the kind of book you spend a lazy morning in bed reading and squealing over. Keep an eye on some of the side characters as well, since one or two may very well end up starring in the next books in the series.
This one’s for someone who’s always looking for a new historical romance that doesn’t star a duke or a marquess, who seem to be the hot commodities of noble romance novel heroes lately.
