15 of Mindy’s Best Outfits From ‘The Mindy Project’

12. Stanford Style: Season 3, Episode 12

The one thing I love about Mindy’s style is how much variety it has. This outfit is the perfect example of that. She takes a classically preppy outfit and makes it her own. She pairs her plaid skirt with tights, obviously referring back to school. Even though you can’t really see it, she’s wearing a long-sleeved patterned shirt with a sweater over top. She finishes the look off with a leather jacket, giving her a cute look for class. I really can’t imagine anyone in college wearing this or putting this much effort into their outfit but that’s such a classic Mindy quirk.

This episode is full of great outfits and I guarantee you’ll see more from this episode later but this outfit is one of the simplest. The plaid skirt is really what makes me love this outfit because it’s nothing something that a lot of people could pull off or would want to wear. There’s such a stigma around it but Mindy makes it work. Her patterned shirt doesn’t contrast with the skirt either which would seem like a problem. The use of fall colors really emphasizes how easily the outfit works on many levels but especially for school.
