8. Elektra

First and foremost, I stand by Jennifer Garner’s Elektra … it wasn’t that bad.

Who she is: Most often, Elektra is known only as Daredevil / Matt Murdock’s love interest and partner in crime. As his equal in almost every way, Elektra is a skilled martial artist. Before palling around with Daredevil, she was an assassin and bounty hunter. Kingpin / Wilson Fisk hired Elektra to kill Murdock’s best friend and colleague, Foggy Nelson, but she could not go through with it. As punishment, Kingpin enlisted Bullseye to finish the job and kill Elektra. Later, The Hand resurrects her and she returns to life as an assassin.

Why she deserves a TV show: Since Jennifer Garner’s solo film in 2005, fans got a taste of the Greek assassin yet again with Netflix’s Daredevil series. However, neither depiction has lived up to its true potential. While Elodie Yung’s casting is closer to Elektra’s depiction in the comics, unfortunately, her lackluster performance is a far cry from Frank Miller’s original concept of an unapologetic femme fatale. Elektra’s story is a tragic tale of vengeance and she’s always owned it. Without flanking Daredevil, a solo television series would give Elektra a chance to spread her sais and embrace her morally ambiguous choices.

Who could play her: Since it would technically be a spin-off, it would be difficult for Marvel to recast Elektra without making everyone involved look bad. There’s no reason Elodie Yung can’t do it, they just need to pump up her edgier side and ditch the conservative getup.
