Last year’s Emmys was historic, and not just because Game of Thrones broke records left and right. After the hashtag of #OscarsSoWhite started trending (though it didn’t become household until the next year), diversity became something awards show began to take into consideration.

The Emmys were actually ahead of the curve, having just diversified their voting pool, opening it up to a whole new crop of younger, more in touch voters. And they were rewarded for that, with more people of color nominated than any year previous. One of those nominations when the Taraji P. Henson for one of the biggest shows of the year, Empire. Henson arrives with the cape and a train that she posed dramatically with every time the camera turned to her. And it turned to her a lot that night, not because of her winning, but because how loud she cheered and how hard she clapped when the woman she was competing against for it Viola Davis, took it home instead. Sisterhood really is the best accessory.
