This was the last year of the madness at the Emmys that was Breaking Bad, and everyone knew the chances of it winning all the things was high. That included an Emmy for Anna Gunn, who arguably had done the best work of her career in the final half season.
As is becoming clear, actresses are far more likely to take sartorial risks when they’re relatively certainly they’re going to take home a trophy. Gunn did a double risk here: though Jenny Packham is a big designer int he UK and dresses those like Kate Middleton on the regular, she’s not a go to on the carpet here. On top of that, she took the risk of a dress that is two toned, with the white bodice and the blue skirt with the up to there slit. It totally worked for her, both on the carpet and then again on TV when she took the trophy home.
