Culturess’ Emmy Predictions for 2016: Will HBO and FX Clean Up?

The question for these Emmy predictions is “How can we not pick Game of Thrones for everything?”
Seriously: the Emmys look to belong to Game of Thrones once again this year. Not only did it turn in a magnificent season, it has already secured the title of “Most Emmys ever” thanks to the Creative Arts Emmys. The Television Academy looks to reward the show further.
However, categories do exist that don’t have Game of Thrones nominated, since you can’t really call it a comedy or a mini-series. While we could say it’s an honor just to be nominated — and it is — there can only be one winner.
Taking our cues from the Emmys’ official play-at-home ballot, we’ve taken a look at each category. We’ve made our picks. Yes, even for the directing and writing categories.
As per usual, though, making a choice can be tough. Television has consistently stepped its game up as of late, even though there does seem to be a glut of remakes and re-imaginings coming down the pike from some networks.
However, it’s also important to note that the Television Academy has changed voting procedures. As neatly explained by this Deadline article, members now vote for their favorite instead of ranking each nominee preferentially.
That all being said, let’s start with the drama categories, shall we?
