8 Reasons You Won’t Want to Miss Bridget Jones’s Baby

Eight reasons you need to see Bridget Jones’s Baby, from the soundtrack to the glory that is Colin Firth.
Okay, I’ll admit it: I was surprised when reviews started pouring in that Bridget Jones’s Baby, the third movie in a film franchise that hasn’t stirred in 12 years, was actually decent. I’ve long been a Bridget fan, from the Helen Fielding books to the hilarious first movie to the way Bridget often starts her sentences with a verb, as in “Will find nice sensible boyfriend.” (Screw the pirates. Why isn’t there a Speak Like Bridget Jones Day?)
But Bridget Jones’s Baby is a sequel—a second sequel—and sequels are, to borrow a phrase from Bridget, not usually “v. good.”
Yet the reviews are true. Bridget Jones’s Baby is good—funny, charming and heartwarming without veering into twee, and smart. I left the theater smiling, and it wasn’t just the giant box of Junior Mints I’d eaten. (340 calories. V. bad.)
If you’re a fan of Bridget Jones, romantic comedies, or British humor, you’ll want to see it. If you need further persuasion, here are eight reasons you should skip to the theater.
