From bizarre medical timeouts to runs from former top players sidelined by injury, the 2016 U.S. Open had everything, but especially craziness.
The 2016 U.S. Open concluded this past Sunday after two weeks of of competition. It was a significant tournament in the history of the event itself, being the first with a working roof, but the last with the old Louis Armstrong Stadium and Grandstand. In terms of matches, there was plenty of drama, craziness and a complete lack of Williams Sisters in the finals, after Serena was knocked out in the semi-final round. People may be talking about some of these matches for years, but they might not be talking about them for necessarily the right reasons.
There were the moments that will stay memorable because of the bizarre occurrences in them. But, as always, there were also the heartwarming and triumphant runs from various players, including winners Angelique Kerber and Stan Wawrinka.
