#6: Misty Day (AHS: Coven)

Misty Day is a Coachella SnapChat-filter love-child vegan feminist stoner fantasy come to life, and it’s almost impossible not to adore her. From her true and abiding love for Stevie Nicks to her fundamental kindness and devotion to the natural world around her, we almost forget she’s a straight-up burned-at-the-stake witch. Which, really, only makes her cooler.

Misty is so relatable because she’s largely misunderstood, but clearly worth much more than she’s given credit for. Her gift for resurgence gets her into undeserved trouble across centuries, though that doesn’t stop her from using her powers pretty much exclusively for good- a rarity amongst the witches in the Coven universe. Her innate goodness also allows for another uncommon season 3 phenomenon: friendship. For a season that revolves around strong, powerful women, Coven unfortunately lacks the particular onscreen magic that’s ignited when the positive representation of female friendship is prioritized over girl-on-girl competition. Misty is a wanderer, and she knows it. But she longs for love and acceptance just like the rest of us. As she puts it, “You can’t be your best self until you find your tribe. I’m still looking for mine.” Fortunately for her (and for us- their alliance is TRUE friendship goals), Misty draws the attention of Cordelia Foxx, and the two women forge a bond that carries her all the way to her heartbreaking demise.
