2. Sansa Stark: “Almost There”
"Trials and tribulations I’ve had my share There ain’t nothin’ gonna stop me now ‘Cause I’m almost there Look out, boys, I’m coming through —The Princess and the Frog"
Queen of my heart Sansa Stark is well on her way to a happier ending than she’s had the opportunity for in… well, just about ever. As a prisoner who has been shuffled from one abusive situation to the next, Sansa may have had a worse go of it than almost any other character on the show. To see her at the head of an army in Season 6’s “Battle of the Bastards” was a monumental moment. Sansa’s star is on the rise and, no, I’m not of the opinion that it will crash and burn. Winter is here, and the Starks are ready for it.
By now, Sansa has learned to play the game. She’s a bit late to the party, but I think the point of that is so that she can lead Littlefinger to his downfall. It would seem that she’s his only weakness, and therefore the only option to destroy him. Not to mention, it would be so narratively appropriate for both Sansa and Littlefinger’s arcs if she’s the one to take him down. He has yet to meet his comeuppance for betraying Ned way back in Season 1, after all.
Sansa has been blocked at every turn, but now she’s back in her element at Winterfell. At the beginning, she thought she didn’t belong there, but now she knows it’s where she’s meant to be. Sansa has learned her lessons, and now it’s time to put them to use. Haters to the left—Sansa is making it through to the end, and we’re almost there.
