The 23 Best Mulder and Scully Moments

#18: Syzygy

Sometimes, the planets metaphorically align to make things easier. Sometimes, the planets physically align to make a certain red-headed FBI agent the sassiest tiny person in all fifty states, and a certain spooky fox the most stubborn. Syzygy is that time.

From the minute they hop in the car, Mulder and Scully are at odds. They fight over directions, they get into it over who’s going to collect evidence at the crime scene. Scully rolls her eyes so hard, they’re in danger of falling right out of that beautiful head of hers. She drops a “Sure, fine, whatever,” in Mulder’s lap at every chance she gets. It’s truly exhilarating.

Given that they’re partners, however, they still have to work together to overthrow a Satanic cult, no matter how snippy Mulder gets with Scully and her little feet that may or may not reach the pedals.

It’s really amazing when they pair up and we get to watch them succeed as one’s strengths complements the other’s weaknesses. As it turns out, though, it’s way more fun to watch these willful lovebirds desperately attempt to refrain from strangling each other. Love is complicated. Whatever.
