The 23 Best Mulder and Scully Moments

#4: The Post-Modern Prometheus
This episode has the perfect mix of old-school horror allure, comic book adventure, underdog-turned-hero charm, and Cher. And for hardcore X-Philes, it features some of the sweetest Mulder/Scully moments of the series.
As they set off to investigate a monster who’s targeting (and impregnating) the townsfolk, Mulder and Scully find themselves wrapped up in the lore surrounding the alleged monster. And though most of the townspeople are dead set on having him caught, the “monster’s” heinous pattern of blasting Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves and eating peanut butter sandwiches doesn’t have our heroes outraged enough to take up their pitchforks.
As they uncover the histories and mysteries of the small town, Mulder and Scully find that the “monster” isn’t a terror at all- merely a science experiment gone wrong. He’s not out for blood or revenge or justice; he just wants love and companionship….which Mulder and Scully attempt to provide him, on a road trip to a Cher concert.
As is the case throughout much of the episode, it’s hard to tell what in this hyper-animated story is real and what’s exaggerated. But please, oh please, don’t try to tell me that this Mulder and Scully dance sequence didn’t really happen. They just want love and companionship, too. DON’T RUIN THIS FOR ME.
