The 23 Best Mulder and Scully Moments

#9: Existence

This season is where things start to get a little wacky, and considering this is The X-Files, that means a lot. By the end of season 8, Mulder has returned from hiding, which is 1) incredible for Scully and the Mulder-baby living inside of her, and 2) kind of disappointing for us because we don’t get to witness any more of those insane, gooey love emails they’ve been sending each other throughout the season (Note: Scully’s email address is queequeg0925@hotmail.com. Carry on).

Scully’s almost ready to pop by the time Mulder returns, so there’s not a whole bunch of time to catch him up. Also, they’re still full-on running from alien super soldiers AND trying to figure out what the big deal is with this pregnancy (as though the exquisite magic of Mulder DNA + Scully DNA isn’t already enough?). So aliens get in the way, the government gets in the way, and we don’t get the playing house experience we’ve been dreaming of, because this is X-Files and nothing can be easy or perfect.

BUT some things can be almost perfect. And one of those things happens at the very end of this tumultuous, exhausting, and almost completely Mulder/Scully romance-less season. Talk about a reunion.
