The 23 Best Mulder and Scully Moments

#13: Arcadia

Arcadia is one of those episodes where, no matter how many times I watch, I truly cannot believe any of it is happening right in front of my eyes. It’s as if surprisingly well-written fanfiction has come to life- in the best way possible.

The following is a list of things that take place during the episode, which finds Mulder and Scully literally playing house as Rob and Laura Petrie (pronounced “petri- like the dish!”) in an undercover attempt to infiltrate a gated community whose inhabitants routinely disappear:

-Mulder makes several- seeevvverall­- jokes (the kind of “jokes” where he’s really just saying what he wishes he could say in real life) about consummating their marriage; one instance involves a request to make a “honeymoon video”

-Scully throws a rubber glove at Mulder’s face after he demands she make him a sandwich

-Scully, in a mud mask, headband, and robe, kicks Mulder out of her bed- after, of course, he makes another “so, we gonna do this or what?” joke

-Mulder tells the neighbors they fell asleep spooning like little cats

-Mulder calls Scully “honey bunch”

-Scully calls Mulder “poopy head”

Truly, just the whole damn thing is one magnificently adorable gift from the spooky heavens. We are not worthy of Mulder and Scully in sweaters, slacks, and loafers. But I’ll GLADLY take it anyway.
