Books to Read Before Their Fall Movie Releases
5. Inferno (October 14th)
(Based on the novel by Dan Brown)
What: Inferno is fourth book in the series featuring Harvard symbology professor Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) who we previously saw in The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons, and The Lost Symbol. Here he wakes up in Italy, with no memory of the past few days. This time he is pulled into a mystery that involves Dante’s Inferno, a female assassin (Ana Ularu), a potential plague, the World Health Organization, and a beautiful doctor Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones) he isn’t sure if he can trust.
Why We’re Excited: Brown’s books are always exciting and much discussed and this book may be the last chance we get to see the adventures of Langdon on the big screen. (The Lost Symbol was put on hold because of fears that the plot was too similar to National Treasure.) This book brings us back to classic Brown storytelling: there is adventure, European cities, and a complex art related mystery to solve. Reading the book will help those who want to know the extra clues that will inevitably be left out of the film version as well as well as providing an interesting (although not necessarily true) version of history.
