14. “Irreplaceable”

"I could have another you by tomorrow So don’t you ever for a second get to thinking You’re irreplaceable"

There’s a lot of talk about how, these days, monogamy is dead and we’re living in a hookup culture. I don’t know how true that is, but it’s undeniable that a lot of us have had partners who treat the relationship cavalierly. If you’ve agreed that this situation is a one-on-one and they act otherwise, there’s no sense trying to change them. So when the breach of trust sullies your relationship, Beyoncé swoops in to remind you that you deserve better. Replace the bad with someone who respects you enough to take on your relationship exactly how you’ve both agreed to.

You can’t change the way someone loves, nor can you control how they treat you. That’s all up to them, just like it’s up to you. They might not know your worth, but you know your own. Sure, if there are a million of them out there, that means there’s a million of you, too. But when they do you wrong and still expect you to stick around, it’s time to rid them of that notion. Upgrade to the sort of partner whose relationship ideals match your own, and who treat you accordingly.

To quote that old adage, there are plenty of fish in the sea. If one doesn’t treat you right, toss ‘em back and catch another.
