20. “Sorry”
"Let’s have a toast to the good life"
There’s been plenty of discourse following Lemonade’s release, due entirely to cultural appropriation. On a large scale, white people have attempted to strip the album of its intended purpose, which is to represent black culture and black women. While white people can certainly enjoy the album for its music and visual effects, the point is that it’s not for us. I don’t presume to identify with black women’s struggles, so Lemonade couldn’t strike the same chord with me. I did, however, find some relatability within the more vague lyrics, as shown here.
When it comes to a breakup, sometimes you have to focus on the silver lining. The grieving process doesn’t tend to start this way, but the bottom line is that every relationship ends for a reason. No matter how much it hurts, or when it feels like you haven’t made the right decision, remember what that breakup was all about and the positive vibes your future holds. Maybe you’re not in the mood to celebrate your loss, but you can always have a drink to the new beginnings that take its place. The end of a relationship marks a major life adjustment, but that means there’s room for improvement on the horizon, too.
Roll with the changes as they come. But don’t forget that it was all for the best, and you can make your life stellar all on your own.
