10. “Beautiful Liar”

"Let’s not kill the karma Let’s not start a fight It’s not worth the drama For a beautiful liar Can’t we laugh about it It’s not worth our time We can live without him Just a beautiful liar"

Beyoncé takes girl power to a new level in “Beautiful Liar.” She and Shakira double-team the narrative of a two-timing boyfriend whose paramours find him out and ditch him. Together, these women deconstruct the sexist myth that the “other woman” is to blame for a man’s indiscretions.
As they say in the song, “The answer is simple: He’s the one to blame.”

The perpetuation of girl hate is a serious problem. This mentality only serves to feed the heteronormative and patriarchal system that praises men and belittles women. Women are all catty, hateful, and seductive, but “boys will be boys” and they can’t help themselves when they’re given the opportunity to have their cake and eat it, too. But Beyoncé and Shakira aren’t having that. Instead of conforming to the girl hate trap, they band together and decide that this man of theirs isn’t worth it—their time, their love, or a fight to determine who gets to keep him. He may be a looker with the right touch, but his decisions render him nothing more than something superficial.

This is crucial to remember in these situations. Even if the third party is intentionally butting into your relationship, it’s your partner’s decision whether or not to let them in. You can find fault with them both, but your significant other makes the final call. And if they call wrong, then it’s probably time to call quits on the relationship.
