Oscar Isaac: Braeburn

Oscar Isaac, most well-known as Poe Dameron in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, has an enviable ability to throw himself into a number of diverse roles—so much he can be difficult to recognize from film to film. From a pilot in The Force Awakens to a dangerous genius in Ex Machina to a god in the recent X-Men: Apocalypse film, the Guatemalan-born actor has some major talent and the awards to prove it. Despite landing bigger roles like in the new Star Wars trilogy, he’s adorably chill about it: “My job is still the same,” he’s said. “Between ‘action’ and ‘cut’, that’s mine. No matter how big the production is, that’s still my space.”

The Braeburn is a solid, all-purpose apple with a rich, sweet, and slightly spicy flavor which reminds us of Isaac’s complex talent. Since it’s so versatile, you can eat it plain as a snack, though it’s also one of the best apples to make recipes with, as it holds its shape. Try it in Martha Stewart’s apple crisp or this baked apples recipe from Alton Brown. Much like Oscar Isaac elevates each film he’s in, the Braeburn is a boom to any dish you bake.
