Jenna Coleman starred in three seasons of Doctor Who, worked opposite two different Doctors and played three distinct-but-still-connected versions of the same character. Sort of. It’s hard to explain, but it’s got to be some kind of Whoniverse record.
The most recent companion to exit the TARDIS, Coleman appears headed for great things. Quite literally, as her next role is playing one of history’s greatest queens in period drama Victoria. The series is based on the young Queen’s early reign and marriage to Prince Albert. (But don’t worry. If the show does well, we’ll likely see Coleman ruling England for several years to come.) Victoria premieres this August on ITV and comes to America on PBS in January.
Coleman also appeared as a magazine assistant in 1920s drama Dancing on the Edge and as Lizzie Bennet’s wayward sister Lydia in Pride and Prejudice sequel Death Comes to Pemberley.

However, those who still miss Coleman as Impossible Girl Clara can take heart. Current Doctor Peter Capaldi did his best at a recent convention appearance to hint that we may not have seen the last of her just yet. Given the rate at which people who’ve left this show return to it, this wouldn’t be that out of the ordinary. Keep hope alive!
