After leaving Doctor Who, John Barrowman continued playing fan favorite Captain Jack Harkness for three seasons (four if you count Miracle Day, which you shouldn’t) on the spinoff series Torchwood. Though the TV show ended officially in 2011, a series of audio dramas featuring Barrowman and other original cast members such as Eve Myles and Gareth David-Lloyd has been ongoing since late 2015.
A regular on the convention circuit, Barrowman seems to have learned to function without sleep. In addition to his many con appearances, he has recorded several albums and written two memoirs. He regularly hosts British television specials with amazing names like Sing Your Face off or John Barrowman’s Pet Hospital, and returns home to his native Scotland to perform in holiday pantos every year. If that wasn’t enough, he’s also just started penning a Torchwood comic book with the help of his sister Carol. Whew.
Barrowman currently portrays the villainous Malcolm Merlyn on the CW’s Arrow. He recently signed a contract which makes him a regular across all the network’s DC TV properties. So it seems likely we can expect to see him pop up on The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and/or Supergirl soon. Since, you know, he’s not doing enough as it is.
