We go through the exquisite outfits from Outlander’s first two seasons and pick out the twenty best looks.

With the release of the first Outlander book in 1991, fans begged for a movie or mini-series adaptation. Diana Gabaldon was for the idea, but only if she could trust the people to do her books justice. It took twenty-three years, and a television director and costume designer duo to make Outlander the mega hit we knew it could be.

Ronald D. Moore praised as the person who brought Outlander to the small screen, but the thanks really should go to his wife, Terry Dresbach. She is a super fan of the Outlander book series and felt they both could bring the show to the small screen. Dresbach has been a costume designer since 1988, but work did not start picking up until 2002. She has done costume design for television shows like The Shield (2002), Buffy the Vampire Slayer (2002-03) and Carnivale (2003). In 2004, the Costume Designers Guild awarded her Best Costume Design – Period or Fantasy TV Series for her work in Carnivale. Dresbach managed to make both shows look realistic and fashionable. Here are 20 of the best costume designs from season one and two of Outlander.
