19. Cersei’s Purple Wedding Outfit (Season 4)

Our third entry from the infamous Purple Wedding finds the Mother of the Groom looking very royally Lannister. Huge dragons adorn her shoulders as well as her statement necklace, and her hair is a mass of rope braids (the better to strangle someone with.) The dress is a heavy regal brocade, pink instead of red, as befitting her motherly status. (Or in her eyes, her MILF status, not that Westeros has such acronyms.) And like all very fancy gowns, the inside lining is just as lush and regal, as you can see from the insides of the extra wide diamond point bell sleeves.

Note that she is sporting the same framing neckline that we saw Margaery in earlier. This nod to the style we already saw on the younger rival is a reminder that Cersei is still trying to look young, even as she watches her older son marry. Young, but not too young. She still needs to idea that she would marry Loras to seem utterly ridiculous in order to keep it from happening. This dress also stands out because it will be one of the very last times we see Cersei wear color. After this she goes into mourning for Joffrey, then Tywin, and then Myrcella, and spends her time in black. (A situation we do not expect to change as her Mad Queen get ups in the finale were even blacker than that.)
