20 Classic Films That Could Be Rebooted with Female Leads

16. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, with Hailee Steinfeld
The story of Ferris Bueller and his day off is one we all wish we could have pulled off when we were in high school – only we didn’t have the keyboard programmed with coughs and other sound effects, or the ability to hack into our school’s computer and lower the number of sick days we’ve already racked up. Beyond all that, we didn’t even have a best friend with access to his dad’s sweet ride for us to go out for a joyride around Chicago in. Ferris’ life was one we could live through vicariously, right up to outsmarting Principal Rooney at every turn.
In terms of actresses who could definitely take on the role of slyly maneuvering their way into getting their own Day Off, Hailee Steinfeld is a candidate for sure. Not only is she a believable age to take on the role of a high school student with attitude, but she’s also growing her career as a singer in tandem with her acting ability. Couldn’t you just picture her standing on top of a float in the middle of a downtown parade and belting out “Twist and Shout” with the best of them? Move over, Matthew Broderick.
