10 Amazing Female Characters We Met in Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Star Wars: The Force Awakens delivered a diverse array of new characters, including many amazing females. We gathered a list of ten of the most amazing below.
The Force Awakens featured more females in speaking roles than any previous Star Wars film. That fact has staggering implications, considering the females we did get in the last six Star Wars films were pretty amazing. Princess Leia, for one, became an icon for self-saving, sass-talking heroines with her debut in 1977, and in the prequels, females could be Jedi, wielding lightsabers and using the Force with the best of the males.
But then, there was a problem with the female Jedi in the prequels: they never had any lines of dialogue. The truth is, only a handful of females actually had any lines in any of the past six Star Wars films.
Times, fortunately, have changed. Now, the galaxy far, far away is in the lead in sci-fi films producing well-rounded, proactive female characters; enough of them, amazingly, to populate a 10-page list.
