6 Tamal’s Spiced Blackberry, Raspberry & Cardamom Charlotte Russe

Tamal was one of those contestants who flew under the radar throughout the competition. He seemed to be perpetually impressing the judges, but not getting Star Baker for it. It wasn’t until he landed the Hollywood Handshake for his meat pie in Victorian Week, and then blew away the competition with his Charlotte Russe that he broke the lock that Ian and Nadiya seems to have on it.

The Charlotte Russe showstoppers were certainly a favorite of the judges. Halfway through tasting, Paul Holloywood turned to Mary and declared this the best idea they’d ever had for a Showstopper challenge in the history of the show. But Tamal’s Charlote Russe held and extra surprise inside. Until the others who used cream for their base and then had the gelatin layer harden on top, Tamal used his baking science smarts to have the gelatin act as a sandwich for the cream, leading to stunning looking sliced that even made Sue bark in admiration “Oh, sir!
