8. Cersei, Sansa, and Margaery

Season 6 of Game of Thrones has been hailed as the ultimate year in girl power. But personally I’m of the opinion that the series has always relied heavily on the women taking care of business, while their male counterparts whine and die. However meek they may play at times, the women of Westeros always end up with a trick up their finely embroidered sleeves.

These cosplayers (Jenna, Sara, and Joanna)  demonstrate that confidence in their portrayals of the scheming Cersei Lannister, the tenacious Sansa Stark, and the clever Margaery Tyrell. Sansa and Margaery alike were forever at odds with Cersei. But all three women had an understanding of each other that may not have resulted in friendship or even respect. They share the bond of women in power who were constantly shadowed by the men in front of them. It may not have been enough to inspire a sense of camaraderie among the three, but these cosplayers put their best feet forward regardless.

Cersei dons the vibrant red of House Lannister, Sansa the cooler colors of the North, and Margaery the spring green representative of Highgarden. There’s obvious attention to detail, as all three women add a little extra characteristic garnish to their costumes as well. Cersei flourishes a goblet (presumably full of wine); Sansa sports her wolf cloak; and Margaery clutches a rose, the sigil of House Tyrell.

Cersei, Sansa, and Margaery alike perhaps had their biggest season this year, and their cosplayers here certainly do them justice.
