11. LEGO Batman

With new fandoms come new cosplays, as demonstrated by this LEGO Batman. His own movie will be hitting theaters February 2017. The teaser brought big laughs from audiences, and the official trailer has added a context to the hilarity that ensures some major family fun come next year.

But we don’t need a feature film to start the fun—in fact, this Batman has already made an appearance in 2014’s The LEGO Movie as it is. And so this cosplayer came out in support of the newest Batman’s lighter outlook on life. It’s certainly a nice deviation from the usual brooding, existential-crisis Batman. That may be all well and good from a canonical perspective, but it’s always nice to have a laugh. “Why so serious?” indeed.

This comedic rendition of the Dark Knight seems as though it will make a splash. In the meantime, this cosplay certainly has. Personally, I can’t tell what the head and hand pieces are crafted from, but the end result is an impeccable life-size LEGO replica. It’s possible that it’s lightweight material, but from where I’m sitting it looks to be heavy lifting. So major props to anyone who can stand carrying it around all day. Ah, the things we do for cosplay…
