7. The Sixth Doctor

A classic Doctor with a modern twist, this cosplay adds a feminine touch to the sixth reincarnation of the otherwise nameless Doctor Who. It stays true to the overall theme of Colin Baker’s regeneration. But this rendition of the time-traveling Gallifreyan gives fans a look at what, exactly, a female Doctor might look like, should we ever get one.

If I didn’t already have my fingers crossed that a female Doctor would come to fly the TARDIS, this cosplay would do it for me. Of course, we can’t expect that she would dress all but identical to one of her former selves. But all the same this outfit opens up the possibilities for canon and cosplay alike. Though this pic is from the end of 2015, she’s been wearing it all through 2016, to great effect.

More often than not, femme versions of male characters tend to be exceptionally cute and crafty. This Doctor has both those qualities in spades. The original outfit can be girled up with the few easy touches demonstrated here. A dolled-up shirt, fitted coat, and a skirt to replace the trousers—and voilà, you’ve made the Doctor accessible to a larger subset of fans. While plenty of Time Ladies are willing to crossdress for the sake of playing our favorite Time Lord, it’s nice to keep our options open if we feel like getting a little more creative.
