Yesterday was a huge day for the cast of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, as they performed parts one and two back to back on the official opening night of the show. For some of the older actors, like those playing the now-grown up original golden trio, a two show day is a just another day at the office, and the goal is mostly to keep in that mindset and not let the red carpet or the nerves get to you.
But for the younger set, especially the actors who play Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy, this is still a world they’re getting into. Samuel Clemmett and Anthony Boyle, who play those roles respectively, were both cast right out of acting school with little on stage experience, and for them, this is the biggest night of their lives ever.
To celebrate this amazing day for them, the two actors teamed up with the Harry Potter Play twitter account and did a backstage diary of what a day in their lives are like putting on a performance of Cursed Child for all the young fans who might be curious what it’s like to live the life of a theater actor for a day. The following set of tweets, which were posted over the course of yesterday are their own little set of performance art, a fascinating stand alone glimpse of what it’s like to be in the eye of the storm of the biggest thing to hit theater since Hamilton.
Please note these tweets also contain many brand new images from the onstage performances that we haven’t seen before, as a bonus treat!
The End.
