WB Studio Tours promotes Harry Potter exhibits while highlighting Fantastic Beasts at Comic Con.

More from Harry Potter

It is no surprise that Warner Brothers is using San Diego Comic, running July 21-24, to promote their upcoming new Harry Potter based film, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. But this year Warner Brother did something pretty interesting for the Harry Potter fans in the U.K. Along with their regularly scheduled exhibit of The Making of Harry Potter: Finding The Philosopher’s Stone, which is currently running from July 22 all the way to September 5th, and they had a little surprise for guests.

Over the the weekend, WB Tours London tweeted “Just for this evening, there are some Beastly additions to the Great Hall… #FantasticBeasts #SDCC2016“. This is the first time they have ever done something like this, but it only got better. Not only did people get to see the new Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them trailer but they got to see the Q&A with the cast, all live streamed directly from San Diego Comic Con.

Wands Up!

Check out the costumes they had on display from Fantastic Beasts as well. As was revealed during the Comic Con panel, the costumes were also all hand made.

For over ten years,  Warner Brothers Studio Leavesden in the United Kingdom was the home to the Harry Potter films. After the wrap up of Harry Potter: The Deathly Part Two in 2010, the production crew was left with thousands of items left from the films. On March 13th of 2012, WB Studio Tours opened its doors. “Set adjacent to the working film studios where all eight Harry Potter films were made, the Studio Tour offers visitors the unique opportunity to explore two sound stages and a back lot filled with original sets, animatronic creatures and breathtaking special effects,” reads Warner Bros. Studio Tours’ website.

Recently, along with the exhibits celebrating the 15th anniversary of the release of the first movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, the museum has also taken advantage of the new technology of 360 degrees cameras. You can now view the set of Dumblemore’s office like you were standing in the very middle of it.

But the tie in to San Diego Comic Con is pretty huge. Up until this year, SDCC has been an American event, and those in the UK are far more likely to simply wait for their one major convention, held in London. that the debut of the Fantastic beasts cast and trailer at SDCC to be so important that the museum decided to stream it for the people in the UK who could not make it to the US is a nod to just how major SDCC has become. It’s lovely that they gave fans that access they would not have otherwise had. Just like WB Studios Tours made it possible for people, from all over the world, to take a tour of Dumbledore’s office, thanks to 360 degrees cameras.
