Famous Geeks Show Their House Pride

Are you a Gryffindor, a Ravenclaw, a Hufflepuff or a Slytherin? Famous Geeks around the web claim their Hogwarts affiliation.

More from Harry Potter

One of the signs of a true Harry Potter fan is knowing your House. From the Brave of Gryffindor to the kindness of Hufflepuff, the tribalism associated with which of the four Hogwarts Founders accepts you into their clan has been staple of the fandom. We here at W&W take it very seriously, whether it’s assigned by Pottermore or by pies.

We’re not the only ones either. Famous geeks around the web, from sports dorks to theater nerds, all proudly fly their House colors, and woe to those who would mistake them for being in another house.

And that’s true even if their fame comes from another fandom! Wil Wheaton, for instance, is known for his boy genius character in Star Trek. But that doesn’t make him any less a Potterphile. And when Felicia Day accidentally assigned him the wrong Hogwarts House, well….

Sorry Puffs! Wheaton denies us. (But, let’s be real. He is pretty Ravenclaw.) Besides, we have someone much, much cooler in the House that Hugs Built: DEADPOOL! Yes, Marvel’s most lovable, foul-mouthed and R-rated superhero is indeed a Puff.

As you can see from this page from a Deadpool comic noted by a reddit user, in this flashback sequence, Deadpool is totally cosplaying in Hufflepuff’s colors while he waits for his copy of Half Blood Prince, only to have it spoiled. So next time you hear Hufflepuff made fun of, remember, this guy’s got your back.

Meanwhile, on the sports side of thing, Mike Evans, the Tampa Bay Buc who is such a huge Potter fan, he even had a Hogwarts cake made for his wedding, took to twitter to make sure that those in the Potter fandom knew which House his heart belonged to.

Duly noted sir! I’m sure that their Quidditch team has an opening for you too, if you are interested.

And finally, lest you think Slytherin has been left out, we learned only the other day that one of musical theater’s fastest rising celebrities actually claims this house as his own. When Emma Watson stopped by to catch a performance of Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda was so star struck, he broke out his House scarf, shocking those around him who assumed that the man who wrote the biggest musical of the decade came from the same House that once counted Tom Riddle as a member.

Slytherin? Well, I suppose a man who was that ambitious that he changed the entirety of Broadway for the better, and earned a MacArthur Genius Award would only belong to one House…

Fine, my fellow snakers. You can have this one. After all, we still have Deadpool.
