It looks like a former child star is behind The Sun on The Masked Singer.

It will be a total shock if The Sun is unmasked on The Masked Singer and the person underneath does not turn out to be LeAnn Rimes.

This author will be the first to admit the first impression theory that Demi Lovato was The Sun was completely off (to note, Jenny McCarthy also guessed Lovato). But as the season has progressed, more and more evidence lean towards Rimes.

While Rimes fans on Twitter-verse have been claiming The Sun sounded like the two-time Grammy Award winner since the beginning, the clues dropped all along align with this theory. Let’s take a look.

In the character’s most recent clue package The Sun said performing on The Masked Singer made her “feel like” she was “five years old again.” Rimes has been singing since she was two and, as reported by Chicago Tribune, she won her first talent competition at five years old. Hence the nostalgia.

By the time the singer was six, her father took her on tours and she eventually became a contestant on Star Search. This is probably why The Sun mentions, in episode three, she “missed out on a lot of [her] childhood.”

This character has also talked about facing depression after her rise to stardom. She also breathed fire calling it a “red hot clue.” Both tie in with Rimes. In November, Rimes told People she struggled with the spotlight that dawned on her when she became a well-known singer at 13. The 1997 “Best New Artist” Grammy winner also told the publication she has felt a burden on her shoulders had been lifted when she finally shared her psoriasis diagnosis — a disease she has hid from the public since she was two. The fire in the packages is probably a play on “inflammation” as it’s a skin condition that causes just that when one’s body flares up.

Lastly, if there’s any doubt about the voice, watch The Sun’s audition performance to Lizzo’s “Cuz I Love You” and compare the voice to Rimes singing a cover to this song in 2019. The voice sure seems like a match.
