Game of Thrones season 8 spoilers: Twisting things together
It’s not the same as meeting in an inn, necessarily, but Game of Thrones season 8 could feature several storylines intertwining yet again.
Warning: Where the Game of Thrones cast is going counts as spoilers for some, so we’re warning you that there are spoilers in this post … as is speculation about what it could all mean.
Game of Thrones filming requires its actors to travel all over the world. For example, we know that Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington were recently in Iceland. Spain and Croatia are among the countries that have served as real-world backdrops for some of our favorite locales in Westeros.
Basically, when our sister site Winter is Coming picks up a photo from Reddit that shows not only Kristofer Hivju, but also Gwendoline Christie, John Bradley, Iain Glen and what looks to be Joe Dempsie (we’d recognize that hairline anywhere) … we’re interested. Granted, they’re at a Starbucks in an airport, supposedly the airport in Belfast per Reddit — but the fact that they’re presumably going somewhere together has us intrigued.
First up, and perhaps most important, it seems as though Tormund Giantsbane might live, at least for a very little while, in season 8. It’s been an ongoing concern of ours, but the fact that he’s hanging around actors whose Game of Thrones characters are very definitely alive has to be a pretty positive sign, right?
WiC outlines a theory that these characters might be intertwined with whatever Clarke and Harington are doing off in Iceland, and it’s not unreasonable to subscribe to that guess about what’s going on. It’s also possible that they’re arriving in Belfast, though, which might track better with the activity going on around Winterfell. However, reports from last week had at least Christie in Belfast, ostensibly filming with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, which suggests that leaving is the correct answer.
Now, the question is: who of these characters will share a scene? We have to say we’d be disappointed if Tormund and Brienne didn’t have some time together — Tormund might finally have an epiphany and realize he’s coming on too strong and that it’s okay to be just friends. (Okay, that’s probably not going to happen.) Gendry’s proven himself a good fighter with his warhammer, and, save for John Bradley’s Sam, all of these characters are primarily known as fighters.

Could that mean there’s something big in store for them, either at Winterfell or elsewhere? Signs point to yes.
