Are Jordan, Layla, and Coop ready to step up? Well, on Wednesday, January 29th at 8:00 PM, fans will get a glimpse of season seven before the series continues with its regularly scheduled time slot of Monday nights at 8:00 beginning on Monday, February 3rd. With the news already broken that several of All American's original series leads have exited ahead of the season premiere, All American's seventh season may not pick up in the same rhythm that fans have learned to expect from the show. After all, there are new characters and circumstances to adjust to.
Now, as the show's leading adults without the ability to rely on Laura or Grace, who had been stronghold adult presences throughout the first six seasons, Layla, Coop, and Jordan are being placed in mentorship roles. Such a switch, along with a slew of new characters, could encourage new fans to join the series, as they may not need to fully understand the previous six seasons to enjoy what is coming. Of course, the aspect of moving on without Spencer James or Olivia Baker, who has anchored the series for the past six years, raises questions about how Coop, Jordan, and Layla will rise to the occasion or if the newly introduced characters will be able to continue the excitement of the world this series has created. However, just because fan favorites may be gone as series regulars, that does not mean they will never appear again.
Samantha Logan has already confirmed her return to All American as Olivia Baker. Even if Spencer does not appear on screen as well, Olivia's appearance could answer questions about their life in New York, Olivia's career as an author, and Spencer's success as an NFL player. Season seven may not be exactly what fans originally envisioned before finding out that Daniel Ezra was exiting the series upon Spencer's success being drafted, but that does not mean the series can not return to its roots with a new perspective. Layla, Jordan, and Coop have the opportunity to take all they have learned from their lives, their friends, and their parents and mentors, and turn it into a successful story for these characters audiences have followed for years, and show them in a new light.
The CW Network also released season premiere dates for other shows as well. Wild Cards season 2 will premiere on Wednesday, February 5th, at 8:00 PM. The series premiere of Good Cop/Bad Cop will be on Wednesday, February 19th, at 8:00 PM. Wild Cards stars Vanessa Morgan and Giacomo Gianniotti. Good Cop/Bad Cop stars Leighton Meester and Luke Cook.
